Intuitive interactive improvisation in watercolor.

These 'wet-in-wet improvisations' differ significantly from many watercolors by pioneers of abstractionism in the twentieth century in that here there is more 'involvement' of the water, the medium itself, in a nonlinear interactive manner.

Many abstractionists used the potentially dynamic medium of watercolor in a more static manner.
Emil Nolde's work is a notable exception. He was one who was definitely well versed in the poetic expressiveness of the water of watercolor, and Nolde did not shrink back from engaging and interacting with its potential for surprise.
